Bhubaneswar: The state government will soon formulate a policy for the development of Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) and the revival of the Kalinga Studio.
Odisha finance minister Shashi Bhushan Behera who heads a ministerial
committee constituted for the development of OFDC said this after the committee visited the Kalinga studio here to assess the situation.
The Kalinga Studio which was once the best studio in the Eastern India would be revived in a time-bound period and developed at par with the best studios of the country so that not only Odia films but also the shootings of films of other languages could be done in the studio, Behera said .
He said all types of infrastructure development for the purpose would be done to help the Odia film producers make films easily without any problem.
Higher education minister Ananta Das, a member of the committee, said in addition to formulating a policy, a detail project report would be prepared for the revival of the Kalinga studio and it would be reviewed regularly.
Women and child development minister, another member of the committee suggested for the revival of old cinema halls.
OFDC Chairman Kuna Tripathy presented various problems faced by the OFDC before the committee. He proposed the ministerial committee to initiate steps to dispose of the cases relating to loans given by the Corporation through OTS, introduction of subsidy and surcharge and provision for managerial funds.
Tripathy also submitted the blueprint for the revival of the Kalinga studio
to the committee and said a plan is being put together for the shooting
of films and TV serials round the year in the Kalinga Studio.
