Bhubaneswar: Adding another feather to its cap, Odisha government has been invited to deliver the keynote address of United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Disaster Resilience Week scheduled to be held in Bangkok from August 26 to 28.
Managing director of Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) Bishnupada Sethi will deliver the keynote address at the international event, Monday. Sethi will discuss about how governments in Asia and the Pacific region can further cooperate in improving the disaster management systems.
Speaking about the invitation, Sethi said, “The success that the state has achieved is not the work of a day or month but of continuous endeavor over 20 years. Disaster resilience can be built through empowerment, inclusion, shared understanding and joint strategic action plan among the nations in Asia-Pacific region.”
