‘State Museum shall get international recognition’

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Museum celebrated International Museum Day here on their premises Thursday. The theme for this year was ‘Museums, Sustainability and Well Being.’

On this occasion 10 copies each of four Parvas of the Sarala Mahabharata- Musali, Swargarohan, Gada and Karna, retrieved from palm leaf manuscripts and prepared as research methodology, were released   on the occasion. An exhibition of ancient arks (sinduka, palki) collected by the museum authorities was also organised on the occasion. A documentary on Timeless Tales & Illustrated Palm Leaf Manuscripts and Coffee Table Book was released by the Additional Chief Secretary Satyabrata Sahoo who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sahoo said, “One day, our museum will be internationally recognised and scale greater heights. I appreciate the museum superintendent and curator among others for inviting me to the event.”

Among others, the programme was attended by Padma Shri Debi Prasanna Pattnaik, Additional Secretary Madhusudan Das, historian Anil Dhir, BK College of Arts and Crafts Gajendra Sahoo, museum curator Bharati Pal and director Bhagyalipi Malla.
