Bhubaneswar: The state government has revised the eligibility criteria to appear for the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET).
As per a resolution issued by the School and Mass Education department Monday, students having higher secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and two-year diploma in elementary education (CT or D.El.Ed.) can write the Paper I test.
Students having higher secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002 are also eligible.
Students securing at least 50 per cent marks in Plus II and four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) can also appear for the Paper I test.
Those having graduation with at least 50 per cent marks and B.Ed can also appear for the test on the condition that he/she shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in Classes l to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognised by the NCTE within two years of appointment as a primary teacher.
Likewise, graduation along with two-year D.El.Ed is necessary to write the Paper II exam. Similarly, those with 50 per cent marks in Higher Secondary and four-year B.A/ B.Sc, Ed are also eligible for the Paper II test.
However, there will be two papers and the duration of the test in each paper shall be one and half and hours. There will be multiple choice questions carrying one mark each. Students can appear for the non-language subjects either in Odia or in English.
For Language I, students can choose one from Odia, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali while Language II must be English for all the candidates.
