State suspends four doctors for dereliction of duty

Bhubaneswar, May 18: Odisha government today placed four doctors of Puri district under suspension for dereliction of duty who were found absent during post cyclone Fani period.

Official sources here said Jahan Parwin, Jakesh Samantaray of Chilika-Nuapada Community Health Centre, Bapuji Nayak of Brahmagiri Primary Health Centre and Jasmin Nilima Panda of Rebana-Nuagaon Community Health Centre were suspended.

These four doctors were absent while senior Health Department officers were supervising the health care services provided in the district post the cyclone.

The government is giving top priority to health care services in Puri district ravaged by the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani.

While senior officers of the department are frequently visiting the district to ensure no epidemic breaks out in the cyclone ravaged area, these doctors were found absent from duty.

Meanwhile, the government today transferred Puri District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) Chief Dr  Ramachandra Rout and posted Angul CDMO  Amarendranath Mohanty in his place.
