Bhubaneswar, July 5: The state government will soon hold meeting with various stakeholders of cashew crop to chalk out a plan for promoting cashew exports from the state, an official of Orissa Young Entrepreneurs’ Association said. “The state government will hold a meeting with various agro based industrial bodies to discuss ways for promotion of cashew exports from the state,” the official said.
As per the official, the export awareness programme will be held for MSMEs on August 5 at Cuttack. It will be held in collaboration with Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
On current cashew export scenario, the official said the state is unable to export any of its cashew produce due to various factors. Issues like lack of good processing plant, government incentives and logistics problem is plaguing the sector, he added.
The state government is planning to draw a strategy to kick-start export of the commodity from the state. “Cashew is one commodity which can earn good revenue as well as can generate huge employment in the state through promotion of small farmers. Government is gearing up to draw a roadmap to begin the commodity export from the state,” the official added.
On the programme, he said Orissa Young Entrepreneurs’ Association together with Federation of Indian Export Organisations (Orissa chapter) is going to organise the programme, which will be highly educative for budding entrepreneurs.
