Post News Network, Bhubaneswar, March 10: State will soon have 20 more mega food parks, an official of the Micro Small and Medium enterprise said in a seminar organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) here Tuesday.
“State will soon have 20 mega food parks for which the two public sector units (PSUs), Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Orissa Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) were given the task to identify the areas for the park,” MSME additional secretary FM Nayak said.
Talking more on the food parks he said, IDCO should take steps to prepare the techno feasibility report for 15 mega food parks where as the same for the remaining of the mega food parks would be prepared by the OSIC. The techno feasibility report will be prepared by both the bodies to locate the food parks in the state.
“In the marine sector the state has witnessed increase in fish production from 2,59,642 MT in 2001-2002 to 4,09,179 MT in 2012-13. The state contributes 2.5 per cent to the exports in terms of quantity and 4.8 per cent in terms of the value of Indian marine products,” Nayak added.
He also said during the last five years the annual export of marine products from state had gone up from 14,135 MT in 2008-09 to 23,691 in 2012-13.
On the recent proposals of the food park he said, the Huma coastal food park in Ganjam and another in Jarshuguda are coming up.
