Bhubaneswar: The state government reconstituted the State Wildlife Board Tuesday evening with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik as its new Chairperson. Forest and Environment Minister, Bikram Keshari Arukh was nominated as Deputy Chairperson of the Board.

The Board will function for a term of next three years which was reconstituted under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 Section 7 and Wildlife Protection (Amendment) Act 2002 Section 6 as well.
Athamallik MLA Ramesh Chandra Sai, Morada MLA Rajkishore Das and Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahu were nominated as members of the State Wildlife Board, read a press release issued by state Information and Public Relations department in this regard.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and the Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) of Odisha was selected as its Member Secretary.
Notably, the State Wildlife Board was constituted in 1982 as an advisory body to the state government on matters pertaining to wildlife.
