State’s promises sound like Satan reciting verses: Sarangi

Balasore: Coming down heavily on the state government, senior BJP leader and former Nilagiri MLA Pratap Sarangi said the enticing promises are similar to Satan reciting verses.

Addressing a press meet at a private Kalyan Mandap here Tuesday, Sarangi said the state government in its 19 years’ rule has failed to provide safe drinking water to people, but spent huge funds in making stars like Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan dance to its tunes.

“Shockingly, the government has no salary for teachers while HSC exam papers got leaked several times. Shortage of doctors has hit the healthcare services at hospitals. Funds being provided by the Central government for the railways, roads and other infrastructure development projects have not been spent. Farmers have committed suicide in the state when the farming community has been grappling with problems arising out of lack of irrigation, cold storage, seeds and pesticide,” he noted.

The BJP leader also said that the paddy MSP which is supposed to go into pockets of farmers go to middlemen. Interests and dignity of women in the state have been hurt while the state has become number one in Infant Mortality Rate due to anaemia, he alleged.

Sarangi also said the state government takes credit for the projects like Ring Road and IDCO Tower which have been funded by the Central government. Thus, the state government has been trying to mislead the people of Balasore, he claimed.

District BJP president Madanmohan Datt, Remuna MLA Gobinda Chandra Das, zonal media coordinator Satyajit Mishra and district media coordinator Gourang Das were present at the press meet.
