Steel City Taekwondo player felicitated in Delhi

Rourkela: A young Taekwondo practitioner from the Steel City was felicitated for his excellence in the martial art form at a recently held international seminar on the sport in New Delhi, a report said Sunday.

Satyaswaroop Sahu, a student of Deepika English Medium School in the city, was felicitated at the two-day international seminar held June 29 and 30 and organized by IITF at Viswa Yuva Kendra. Principal Pramod Kumar has wished him on his achievement.

The participants attending the seminar performed under the direct supervision of William Jacob Boss of Italy. Sahu was felicitated with a certificate, medal and a memento by IITF president Rakesh Kumar and Boss for delivering 163 kicks (both tolly and round kick) in one minute. He was the only boy among the 162 black belt holders to deliver so many kicks in the seminar.

Sahu’s name also figures in India Book of Records.  Sahu participated in the seminar accompanied by international trainer Sachidananda Biswal, black belt holder Smruti Ranjan Lenka and three others.
