Jaleswar: In a major crackdown, the special task force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch conducted a raid Sunday and seized a huge cache of brown sugar weighing around two kilograms in Jaleswar of Balasore district. Three persons have been arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of STF personnel raided a place at Jaleswar market in Balasore leading to the arrests and seizure. They caught the peddlers when the latter were about to finalise a deal.
Those arrested has been identified as Mamtaz Khan from Jhadeswarpur under Jaleswar police limits of Balasore district, Udaya Nath Rath from Arana village in Jagatsinghpur district and Pradeep Kumar Das of Tainkala area, under Baiyalismouza police limits of Cuttack district.

Along with the contraband, other incriminating evidences were also found in possession of those arrested. They were produced before Balasore District and Sessions Judge Court Monday and remanded to police custody.
A STF PS case (No-30, dated 15.08.2021 U/s. 21(C)/29 of NDPS Act, 1985) has been registered and detailed probe is underway.
