We all know that Holi is the festival of love, happiness and colours. Everyone, on this grand day plays with colours and celebrate the occasion in full of zeal and enthusiasm.

But, in a bizarre incident, there is a village where only women are allowed to play Holi. Men cannot play or join the women.

Yes, we are talking about a unique tradition that has been going on for many years in village ‘Kundra’ in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, in which even girls are not allowed to play Holi nor even children only women have the power to play with colours.

According to the villagers, they said that on the day of ‘Phag’ festival in Ram-Jaanki temple one of the dacoit called Mimar Singh shot a youth named Rajpal and after that incident took place, there was no festival of Holi celebrated for many years in the village.

But after a meeting, it was decided that all the women of the village would celebrate this festival of Holi with the all the rituals.  So, from that day only women celebrate the festival of Holi in the village. All the men go out from the village on this day and all the women celebrate this festival with great fanfare and go to the temples and perform darshan too.
