Cuttack: Body of a newborn was recovered from Manguli Chhak in Choudwar of Cuttack district Wednesday morning.
Locals spotted the body and alerted the police immediately.
According to sources, the body of the abandoned newborn was mauled by crows and stray dogs.
After arriving at the spot, police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
However local people and police suspect that the child was abandoned by its parents immediately after birth.
Efforts are on to trace the parents.
