Strike withdrawn, JK Paper Mill reopens

Rayagada: The JK Paper Mills workers here Tuesday resumed its operations following a tripartite meeting that ended the 12-day-long cease work strike.

The plant reopened after a meeting between the district administration, agitating workers and the plant authorities Monday night.

According to reports, the protesters who had been on dharna before the main gate of the plant withdrew their strike after the meeting.

Their demands included a monthly salary of Rs 18,000, increment and regularisation of jobs. The authorities assured that all the demands would be looked into positively.

The strike from August 23 forced the authorities to shut down the plant operations.
