Students build village road during Dussehra vacation

Malkangiri: While most students are enjoying their Dussehra vacation, more than 50 students belonging from Dutelguda village in Dudameta gram pacnchayat under Korukonda block have started constructing a road to their village.

The village of more than 350 residents suffers a lot as the road connecting to it is in a poor condition. Moreover, the trouble becomes double during rainy seasons. Similarly, the villagers face trouble to reach panchayat office, block office and the district head quarter.

Earlier, a pregnant woman was carried on cot to hospital as an ambulance could not reach the village due to poor road connectivity.

Meanwhile the students, who are studying outside the village and have come to village for Dussehra holidays, have started constructing a one km stretch of road from Koyaguda to Dutelguda.

Samara Golari, Bagurban Hantal, Bisnu Pangi and Madhab Pangi who are residing at a hostel in district head quarter, Dinabandhu Pangi of Potrel Sevasharam, Madhab Pangi and Phulamati Pangi of Sahid Laxman Nayak high school and Sahadev Golari of Tarlakota high school, who have started the road construction work said that, it was better to construct the road to the village than enjoying the vacation. They have forgotten the Dussehra vacation and were happy to build the road work which was in a bad shape, the students added.

Similarly, nayab sarpanch Bisnu Pangi, Bhagaban Hantal, Kandulu Pangi and Laku Hantal said that, the block and district administrations had take no actions even the villagers had alerted them in this regarded for several times. They (administrations) should learn from the students who had started building the road on their own.
