Jhumpura: Villagers and students have kept the Badaneuli High School locked up for four days in the Jhumpura block of Keonjhar. They are demanding transfer of the Headmistress.
Students staged a sit-in, alleging that they are being served sub-standard food at the hostel. The school has a boys’ hostel with 40 seats and a girls’ hostel with 110 seats on its premises. They held headmistress Henarani Swain responsible for the mess in the hostel.
They said that BEO Dushahan Singh and BRCC Kamal Lochan Biswal had held talks with the villagers, but had failed to sort out the problems. The Baria police are keeping a close watch on the situation.
Headmistress Swain said of the four cooks in the hostel, one has been removed from work.
The Civil Supply Department supplies rice to the children. The children complained that the rice smelt bad and was unfit for consumption and the DEO had been informed, the headmistress explained.
