Students learn trends in telecommunication

BHUBANESWAR: Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Gandhi Institute For Technology (GIFT), Bhubaneswar organised an intra-department poster presentation competition and seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Telecommunication’ here Tuesday.

The event was organised in association with Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Bhubaneswar centre. More than 100 faculty members and students participated in the event, which delved into cutting-edge topics in the field of Telecommunication.

Chief guest U. S. Panda, CGM (BSNL) inaugurated the event. A K Padhi, Vice-Chairman, IETE, Bhubaneswar, Sri Nilamani Mohanty, EX-Director, ISRO & Dr. S. Krishna Mohan Rao, Principal, GIFT presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Krishna Mohan Rao, Principal, GIFT, Bhubaneswar appreciated the organising team for conducting the event. “The seminar will promote all innovations and advancements in the field of engineering and technology on one platform and provide a valuable forum for interaction for industry, academia and researchers,” he noted.

At the beginning of the event, the chief guest and guests of Honour were requested to evaluate the poster presentation competition which was held among the IETE students. The inaugural session was followed by a keynote address in the cutting edge area by Panda.

In his speech, he not only addressed the students on telecommunication but also advised them on how to be a good human being. A. K. Pahi, Vice-Chairman, IETE, Bhubaneswar gave a key note address on Recent switching systems and advancement of packet switching in telecommunication, in which he highlighted the importance and requirements of intelligent systems in our day to day needs.

Kulamani Mohanty, Ex-Director, ISRO, gave a key note address on the current trends in Satellite Communications in India and abroad. S Krishna Mohan Rao, Principal, GIFT, Bhubaneswar, delivered the felicitation address and
