Baripada: Students of Maharaja Sriramchandra University started a sit-in in front of the varsity gate Friday over their 10 demands. The agitating students alleged they have been facing a lot of difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic while their demands have not been fulfilled.

They have demanded a 50 per cent waiver of hostel fees, formation of students’ union and a literary club, smart classrooms, a special building for students pursuing BEd and MEd courses, Wi-Fi connectivity in the campus, filling up of vacancies and regular updating of the university website.

The agitating students accused the university authorities of paying no heed to their basic issues at the time of pandemic.

Some officials of the university talked with the students, but the latter refused to budge. They pressed for 50 per cent reduction in their hostel fees. Some of the students said that their protests will continue till all their demands are met.
