Sambalpur: The academic council of Sambalpur University (SU) has approved a plan to start four new courses – Info-Economics, MAC, Computer Science in Data Analyses and M Phil in Performing Arts – in the coming academic session. Some changes would be effected in the examination system and there will be introduction of a course curriculum for both post graduate and under-graduate courses in the university.
The university would introduce multiple choice questions and short type questions for the benefits of students. Also, 15 marks are earmarked for internal assessment at the college level. There will be both theory and practical examinations.
It was decided to award 25 marks for practical examinations and 75 marks for theory.
The council has also approved new syllabus for various courses. There would be a detailed revision of the courses for Homoeopathy and Ayurveda.
The meeting was attended by vice chancellor Prof Dipak Behera, director of college development council Prof Ashok Mohapatra, post graduate council chairman Prof Bishwajit Satpathy, controller of examinations Prof S N Nayak, head of department, members of the academic council, chairman of the board of studies and representative of the medical college.
