Subhadra launch today

Bhubaneswar: More than 10 lakh women will receive their first installment of Rs 5,000 when the ambitious ‘Subhadra Yojana’ will be launched in the state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Janata Maidan here Tuesday. It will mark the beginning of the ambitious project introduced by the newly-elected BJP government in Odisha. ‘Subhadra Yojana’ launch will be one of the key events of the day during the PM’s duration in the Odisha capital during which he will also lay the foundation for multiple development projects worth Rs 3,800 crore.

Taking to his ‘X’ handle, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said Monday that the launch of the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ will be a momentous occasion for women in the state. It will be mark the fulfillment of promises and will also herald the empowerment of Nari Shakti. It should be stated here that already over 60 lakh women have registered their names for the scheme. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida informed Monday that those who have registered on or before September 15 will receive the first installment of Rs 5,000 Tuesday. The Odisha government will annually deposit Rs 10,000, in two installments of Rs 5,000 each on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day (March 8), in the accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT for five years – between financial years 2024-25 and 2028-29. The government has earmarked Rs 55,825 crore for the implementation of the scheme.

More than one crore women in the age group of 21 years to 60 years in Odisha will benefit from the Subhadra scheme. The state government also said that those who have not received a debit of one rupee under the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ in their respective registered bank accounts do not need to worry. It means that the applications are being scrutinised and once done, the money will be deposited into the account. All schools, colleges and educational institutions will remain closed in the Odisha capital, in view of Modi’s visit. Besides launching Subhadra Yojana, he will inaugurate 26 lakh PM Awas houses at Gadakana. Modi will also unveil railway projects worth Rs 2,871 crore and highway projects worth Rs 1,000 crore.
