Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Women (SCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the mysterious death of a teenage girl Subhalaxmi Sahu inside a hotel room in Bhubaneswar.
“We have written a letter to Bhubaneswar DCP to investigate the matter properly whether Subhalaxmi has committed suicide or she lost her life due to some other reasons. We have also asked the DCP to submit a report in this regard within 15 days,” Odisha SCW chairperson Minati Behera said.
Commissionerate Police has so far questioned nearly a dozen people in this connection and their statements have been recorded.
According to a source, police have accessed crucial information after analysing the Call Detail Record (CDR) of the deceased.
It can be mentioned here that Subhalaxmi Sahu was a student at Kamala Nehru Women’s College. The source informed that she was not regular in attending classes.
Notably, Subhalaxmi had checked into Hotel Deepali located in Laxmi Sagar area at 3:20 am last Friday. After finding her body hanging in the room (Room No- 205), the hotel staff immediately informed the cops.

The autopsy report confirmed that Subhalaxmi died of asphyxiation. The viscera report is still awaited.
