Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police Sunday night arrested Seashore chit fund accused Subhankar Nayak on the charge of misbehaving a woman and assaulting her son.
According to reports, the woman and her son lodged a complaint against Nayak in the Kharavela Nagar police station Sunday evening. Acting on the complaint, police picked him up from his house of the Chandrama apartment in the night and arrested him after interrogation at the police station.
Asked about the matter, Nayak said he has neither misbehaved the woman not assaulted his son. “I don’t know the woman and his son,” he told mediapersons.
Sources in the Commisionerate Police said that the woman had informed the modern police control room about the matter in the night through Dial 100. Acting on the complaint, a PCR van went to the Chandrama apartment and picked up Nayak from his residence. After Nayak was brought to the police station, the woman and her son arrived at the police station and lodged a complaint against him.
Police have registered a case against Nayak under section 354, 341, 323, 427 and 294 of the IPC.
However, there has been no statement by the police about his arrest so far.
Notably, Nayak was arrested by the CBI on November 18, 2014, for his link with the Seashore Group.
Several incriminating documents including two gold biscuits and cash worth Rs 15 lakh were seized by the CBI during a raid at his residence.
However, he was released on bail in August 2017.
Subhankar was one of the most influential persons in the power corridor in the state.
