Subhranshu scripts Keonjhar win

Subhranshu Senapati hit a splendid century against Jharsuguda

Cuttack: Subhranshu Senapati (127 n o, 95b, 9×4, 5×6) scored an unbeaten century as Keonjhar defeated Jharsuguda by eight wickets in a Super League encounter of the Kalahandi Cup cricket tournament here at the Ravenshaw Ground, Sunday.

Chasing a target of 195 runs to win, Keonjhar rode on Subhranshu’s knock and an unbeaten half century from Mitrabhanu Panda (53 n o, 75b, 4×4, 1×6) to romp home in 30.5 overs losing only two wickets in process.

Earlier, batting first Jharsuguda were all out for 194 runs in 40.4 overs courtesy Rajkishan Patel’s (90, 97b, 12×4, 6×6) fluent half century. Pritamjit Das (36) was the only other notable scorer for Jharsuguda. Goutam Das (3/25) was the pick of Keonjhar bowlers while Bipulku Rout (2/41), Pramod Naik (2/23) and Asutosh Ray (2/43) got two wickets apiece.

Brief scores: Jharsuguda 194 (Rajkishan Patel 90; Goutam Das 3/25) lost to Keonjhar 195/2 in 30.5 overs (Subhranshu Senapati 127 n o) by eight wickets.
