Ananadapur: A retailer has set an example for others in Anandapur area of Keonjhar district for his dedicated service.
Sudarshan Rana (54) of ward No 7 under Anandapur NAC has been carrying food materials on his shoulders and distributing them among the beneficiaries at their doorsteps.
He has been doing this even as some retailers are accused of misappropriating the food stuff meant for the beneficiaries in some areas. Reports of such are dime a dozen in the media every day.
But Sudarshan’s dedication and work have made him stand apart from others. His sincerity towards work has been applauded.
About 13 NFSA beneficiaries are physically challenged in his ward. They are unable to come to take their provisions from the retail shop.
For the last two years, he has been delivering food materials at the doorsteps of these beneficiaries.
When asked about the dedicated service of Sudarshan, sub-divisional civil supplies officer Budhadev Jena said that there has been no formal notification to carry out such service.
“If that retailer has been doing that, it is certainly a welcome step,” Jena said.
The physically challenged NFSA beneficiaries have heaped praises on the retailer for his service.
Sudarshan has 465 NFSA beneficiaries under him and he has been disbursing about 70 to 80 quintals of food stuff to them every month.
“I have been continuing this wok since 1989 and I am happy,” Sudarshan said.
