Bhubaneswar, March 29: The city Sunday got a golden opportunity to listen to some of the hit Bollywood songs sung by some of the famous playback singers, who descended on the city to enthrall the young crowd of around 5,000 that thronged the Janata Maidan near Jaydev Vihar.
The singers included Sukhwinder Singh, Benny Dayal and Kanika Kapoor. DJ Chetas and DJ Kiran Kamath added colour to the show. Soon after the concert begun, Sukhwinder electrified the audience with his rendition of Dard-e-disco.
“I had never heard Sukhwinder live. This was the first time when I saw him in any concert. I am a big fan of this playback singer, who I have been following since my childhood. His famous song Chaiyya Chaiyya still mesmerises people of all age groups. I really loved coming here,” said Savita Samal, a 21-year-old engineering student of ITER College.
After Chaiyya Chaiyya came Dayal’s Batmiz Dil and Besharmi Ki Height. The already electrified audience was ecstatic now. Many were seen dancing to the tunes of these songs as they hummed along with the singer. Kanika Kapoor too did justice to the mood of the audience and retained the prevailing exuberance with her Baby Doll and Chittiyyan Kalaiyaan. DJs Kiran and Chetas were perhaps at their jockeying best.
The event was organised by Buzz 365 Entertainment, an event management company. Talking to Orissa Post, Harsh Madhugaria said, “We often organise events across the country. This is the first time we have organised such an event in Bhubaneswar. We have witnessed tremendous response from the city this time. Around 5,000 visitors flocked to our event to listen to the famous singers we invited.”
Harsh Mishra, an IT professional of the city said, “I toiled hard today to complete my work well before time so that I may listen to my famous singers live; I often hear them though on television. After coming here and listening to these performances I am really overwhelmed.”
