Sundargarh: A youth committed suicide at Duduka village under Hemagiri police limits in Sundargarh district Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Shiva Chandan, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, the youth climbed atop the roof of Bank of India (BOI) under Duduka branch and jumped off the terrace.
The incident allegedly took place in the presence of police officers who reached the spot immediately after being informed by the locals present there.
However, the cops were unfortunately unable to save him at the notch. Several locals and passersby were spotted capturing pictures and videos of the incident.
The youth, who died on the spot, was mentally challenged, locals said.
The exact reason behind the youth taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
