Lucknow: During his playing days, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina was known among his teammates as a ‘foodie’. The all-rounder is well-renowned for his cooking skills and his passions for different varieties of food. Suresh Raina always had this dream to open a restaurant abroad. And he has finally done that by opening one at the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.
Raina has named the restaurant after his name only as ‘Raina’. The cuisine on offer varies from typical North Indian dishes to the tongue-titillating stuff that one finds in the southern and western parts of the country. Raina’s aim is to get people abroad acquainted with the diversity of food that India has to offer.
Raina announced the opening of Raina on his Instagram page. “Drumroll, please! Get ready for a culinary explosion like never before! I am absolutely ecstatic to introduce Raina Indian Restaurant in Amsterdam, where my passion for food and cooking takes center stage!” he writes.
“Over the years, you’ve seen my love for food and witnessed my culinary adventures, and now, I am on a mission to bring the most authentic and genuine flavors from different parts of India straight to Europe’s heart.
“Prepare your taste buds for a remarkable journey where each dish tells a story and every bite is a celebration of Indian heritage. From the rich spices of North India to the aromatic curries of South India, Raina Indian Restaurant is a tribute to the diverse and vibrant culinary tapestry of my beloved country,” the former cricketer adds.

On his Instagram page Raina has also announced that special discounts will be provided to local residents of Amsterdam. He is hopeful that non-resident Indians staying in Amsterdam and in other parts of the Netherlands will be able to get a feel of Indian food at his hotel. His main target is attract people all over Europe to various types of Indian delicacies and food.
