Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-backed candidate Sushama Pradhan has been elected uncontested as the vice chairperson of the Odisha State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Limited (Boyanika). Pradhan is one of the 21 members of the operational committee of the organisation, who filed her nomination 27 March, 2023. Sushama was the only contestant for the election as anybody else from the committee hardly showed interest in filing a nomination for the post. Pradhan belongs to the Mahulia weavers’ society in Badamba.
After getting elected, Pradhan expressed her gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Minister of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Rita Sahu, MLA Badamba and Narasinghpur MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, Cooperation Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, and Attabira MLA Snehangini Chhuria. Pradhan pledged to work towards the betterment of the weavers, weavers’ society, and the development of Boyanika.
