Angul: Separate teams of Odisha Vigilance sleuths carried out simultaneous raids Monday morning on properties linked to a junior engineer (JE) in Talcher block of Angul district over the charge of amassing assets disproportionate to his legal sources of income.
The Talcher block JE has been identified as Biranchi Narayan Sahu.
A source said that the Vigilance sleuths conducted raids at four places including his residential house at Kumuda locality and another residential house at Ambal, both under Sadar police limits in Angul district, a relative’s residence located at Meramundali in Dhenkanal district and Sahu’s office room in the block.

The searches at four places were carried out on the strength of a warrant issued by Court of Special Judge, Vigilance in Angul. The teams led by four DSPs, eight Inspectors and other subordinate staff launched the raids early in the morning, which is underway.
Total estimate of the movable and immovable assets of Sahu has not been ascertained yet, which will be conducted after raids are over. Several important documents have been seized, an official said.
