Upcoming Odia film Tandav is an out-and-out action thriller. As its title suggests, the film is all about the anger of a young man who becomes a victim of cruel situation that afflicts his heart and soul.
Debasis Pati of Tike Khara Tike Chhai fame will be featured as lead character of the movie. The first look poster of the film was released recently at an event in Cuttack where Sunday POST interacted with cast and crew.
“People who often fall a prey to horrendous situations resort to avenge after wriggling out of the crisis. Their anger pushes them to extremities when they are bent upon punishing the wrongdoers ruthlessly. The fury is comparable to Lord Shiva’s violent dance called Tandav that gives rise to tremors. Our films dwells upon such an earth-shaking situation,“ says the lead actor.
“This is an original story and not borrowed or inspired by any other movie. It is different from the traditional run-of-the-mill stuff of Odia films. I believe, the spectators would appreciate the filmmakers’ efforts,” says debutant director Prithvi Raj Pattnaik.
“The movie’s title song evinces heroism. We have adapted ancient classical hymns pertaining to Lord Shiva’s Tandav to suit the film. Besides, the film’s romantic numbers are mellifluous. The songs are sure to woo the audience,” says music director Agniraj Kishore.
Producers Jitendra Kumar Chand and Sandeep Sahoo said, “This is our first film and it has a strong script. We expect the film to do good business.”
Veteran actors Mihir Das and Manoj Mishra are donning major roles. Jitendra Kumar Chand has written the script while the lyrics were penned by Prabin Kumar and Rakesh Dash. The film’s screenplay was written by Prithvi Raj Pattnaik and dialogues by Red Saga while Kuhu Malla is the photography director. The film is expected to release around Diwali.
