Tanmaya takes top honours

Bhubaneswar, June 3: Tanmaya Kumar of Bhubaneswar emerged champion in the IIIrd State Open Rapid Chess Championships, which concluded here Sunday.

Tanmaya took the top honours with a total of six points after the completion of the seventh and the final round. His citymate Pratyush Pradhan also finished with the same number of points, but had to be satisfied with the runner-up finish on the basis of having a poorer tie-breaker score.  Abinash Baliarsingh of Jatni finished third while Manas Ranjan Parida secured the fourth position with 5.5 points apiece. Sanjay Patnaik was adjudged the ‘Best Veteran Player’ and ‘Snehanjali Pradhan’ got the ‘Best Woman Player’ award.

Special prize winners: M Baibhav, Subham Parida, Sujit Kumar Dash, Rohit Mallick, Amit Rajguru, D Aditya, Trideb Sahoo, Anshuman Pati, Aum Prasad Das, Shivangi S Mohanty.

Selection trial

All India Football Federation (AIFF) will conduct a trial camp for boys and girls of various age categories for selection into the national teams at Cuttack, June 8-9. All the interested players should contact Football Association of Odisha (FAO) office immediately.
