Teach Mayurbhanj: Novel approach to boost education

The programme to cover 69 schools in the first phase

Baripada: In an effort to give more and more scope to the students majoring in education in general and teaching in particular, an initiative called ‘Teach Mayurbhanj’ was launched at the education department of the North Odisha University (NOU) here Saturday.

 

Initially, 69 schools under 6 blocks of the district will be included in the programme and it may be expanded to other schools later.

The programme was presided over by NOU Vice Chancellor Professor Pradip Kumar Chand in the presence of prominent educationist Prakash Chandra Agrawal, District Education Officer Dhrubacharan Behera, PG Council chairperson of NOU Sasmita Kar and head of the education department Professor Samir Kumar Lenka.

 

Scores of teachers and headmasters from various parts attended the programme. Speakers dwelt upon the aims and objectives of the programme and said that it would bring about far-reaching effects on education.

 

They also noted that Teach Mayurbhanj will usher in a multi-dimensional change in the education scenario in the district.

Lenka said the programme aims at providing education students scope for teaching with service-oriented attitude in schools so as to help out teachers.

 

He pointed out that since education in many schools in the district has been hit by teachers’ shortage, this programme will alleviate the shortcomings.

 

In the first phase, the programme will be implemented in 69 upper primary and high schools under Morada, Badasahi, Gopabandhunagar, Khunta, Shyamkhunta, Kuliana and Baripada blocks.

 

This programme was initiated with the approval of the School and Mass Education Department and the district administration.
