BHUBANESWAR: As part of the Valentine’s Week, February 10 is celebrated as Teddy Day worldwide. The day marks soft and furry teddy adding cuteness one’s love story. Despite being one of the most predictable and ‘least creative’ gifts, teddy bears have still managed to keep their popularity. City youths have already procured the cutest pieces of Teddy from the market to delight their significant others on the day.
What could be more huggable and comforting than a Teddy Bear? Teddies can be a source of pure warmth and joy not only among couples but families as well. Srinivas and Rupashree, who are best buddies since their childhood, feel that such celebrations are necessary to showcase your feelings to your best friend or partner. The two have been sharing Teddies since their childhood.
Gifting teddies is not common only among couples though. Riddhima Choudhury, an architect student, said, “My mother is my true companion just like a teddy bear. No matter what happens, she is always there for me in my happiness, pain and sorrow. So this teddy day, I am buying a huge Teddy for her.”
Satyabhama, owner of a renowned gift shop in Sahid Nagar, said, “It doesn’t matter how old you get, it’s never too late to buy a soft toy, and Teddy Day is the perfect occasion for it. The soft buddy can bring an immediate smile and liveliness in everyone’s life. I have already sold 200 Teddy bears and youngsters are queuing up to buy the best ones that are left.”
Sucheta Bidyadhar, owner of a café, said, “I have gifted my daughter Zara a beautiful teddy which is her constant companion now. She is unable to sleep till I put the Teddy beside her. Teddy bears would never go out of vogue.”
Anirudh Senapti, owner of a gift shop at Unit- 4, said, “Teddy bears are available in various colours. With every passing year Valentine week is witnessing a huge rush for these soft toys. I have no complaints in this regard as my business is flourishing. I have two teddy bear makers from Kolkata who are customising Teddy’s according to orders of our clients.”
