Temp dips below 10°C at 11 places, Phulbani coldest at 6.5°C

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, as many as 11 places in Odisha recorded night temperatures below 10 degree Celsius, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed Friday.

Cold wave continues to grip many parts of the state. Phulbani was the coldest place with a night temperature of 6.5 degree Celsius, followed by Daringbadi and Sundargarh with 7.5 each, Sonepur with 8.2, Titilagarh with 8.3, Keonjhar with 8.6 and Jharsuguda with 8.8.

Other places where night temperatures plummeted below 10 degree Celsius are Bhawanipatna and Boudh with 9.0 each, Hirakud with 9.5 and Koraput with 9.6, the IMD regional centre stated.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack twin cities recorded minimum temperature of 12.4 and 11.6 degree Celsius respectively Thursday night.

Dry weather is likely to prevail over Khurda and Nayagarh districts for the next four days. However, there will be a gradual rise in the minimum temperature by 2 to 4 degree during the next two days. No significant change will be witnessed in the districts thereafter.

Notably, the winter chill is being felt in most parts of the state throwing normal life of people out of gear. The spine-chilling conditions force people to remain indoors during the morning and evening hours.
