Temperature likely to breach 42 degree Celsius-mark in these parts of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Wednesday predicted the parts of interior Odisha are likely to experience temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more over the next five days.

IMD also said that there is no large change in maximum temperature (day) at many places over the districts of the state.

The weather agency issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of the state.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 1: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhargarh, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Khurda districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Deogarh and Jharsuguda districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhargarh, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and at one or two places over the rest districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 1 to 8.30 AM of June 2: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Khurda, Keonjhargarh, Nayagarh and Mayurbhanj.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Keonjhargarh, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the rest districts of coastal Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, rain or thundershower towards the afternoon is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 40 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Nabarangpur, the bulletin informed.
