Textbooks still distant dream for students in Bisra town of Sundargarh district

Rourkela: Students of Class-I, Class-II and Class-VII studying in different primary schools and high schools in Bisra area of Sundargarh district have not yet received some textbooks, a source said Saturday.

According to the source, Class-I and Class-II students have not received textbooks such as ‘Hasa o Khela’ part-I, Odia workbook, mathematics workbook and language workbook, whereas Class-VII students have not received social science books.

In absence of the first part of ‘Hasa o Khela’ book, the students have begun to study part two of the bookset, the source informed.

Parents have raised concerns over the issue.

When asked about the hindrance in providing books, local BEO (Block Education Officer) Benudhar Swain said that he is aware of Class-VII students not getting the social science book, but was unaware of Class-I and Class-II students’ ordeals. He claimed to have reported to the current assignment only a few days back hindering his clear knowledge over the ongoing issue.
