BHUBANESWAR: The city of Bhubaneswar is evolving with each passing day as a truly smart city. Food habits of its people as well as eateries based in the city have undergone a tremendous change with time.
Good restaurants meant little more than good food beforehand. However, that scenario is changing slowly. To capture the aesthetic appetite of potential customers, eateries based in the city have started to enhance the interiors of these places. Such enhancements are usually thematic in nature. It is usually based on something unique. Orissa POST interacted with various stakeholders to delve deeper into the subject.
Upre Kitchen and Bar at Patia here is a Greek-themed restaurant flaunting vibes of Santorini island of Greece. The two-storey building accommodates 240 seats and includes one open air and another indoor dining section. The menu features cuisines from all over the world. Angela Marconis, a city-based researcher, said, “Bhubaneswar got the perfect destination for a lovely evening just before the winter.” Martha said, “This Greek-themed restaurant has brought unprecedented joy to the people of the city. A sight of the interiors of this place is pure bliss.”
Upre is not the only eatery to have tapped into the potential of themed interiors. Kanopy, another city-based rooftop eatery, has modelled its interiors on the theme of a jungle. Floor manager, Kanopy Asmita Rehan said, “We have decorated our interiors with the theme of a jungle just to give our clients a feeling of greenery. We attempt to be a calming influence in the stressful lives of our customers.” Shagufta Malik, a customer of kanopy, said, “I celebrated my birthday at this place recently. Live music, excellent bar services and the location of a rooftop combines to provide the ultimate form of relaxation.”
A socialite Ahana Mohanty said, “The city is fast adapting to the culture of themed restaurants, open terrace cafes to allure potential clients. While metros have been flaunting such eateries for many years now, Bhubaneswar is determined not to be left behind.”
Musician Pritam and his rock band has always been a big fan of Brezze rooftop restaurant at Pal Heights. Pritam said, “My band chooses this destination multiple times as it keeps our creative juices flowing. The thematic interiors of this eatery makes our evening every time.”
Architecture Smruti Mohapatra said, “Everyone appreciates a restaurant with an ambiance that appeals to one’s taste of uniqueness. The city of Bhubaneswar has enough places to cater to such needs. There are plenty of themed restaurants in the city. These restaurants will let one explore a completely new paradigm of dining.”
Anant Ojha, a student, said, “The Hungry shark café at Niladri Vihar area is one of the finest cafés in Bhubaneswar. The interiors of this place are decorated with seashells and pebbles. It’s a beautiful rooftop place with a good ambience. One can play Jenga and crosswords among others at this place.
