Ganjam: Ganjam COVID-19 hospital Friday requested COVID recovered patients in the district to volunteer for plasma donations so that serious patients can benefit from it. That said, the hospital also put out a list of factors highlighting the patients that are not eligible for plasma donation.
According to a tweet by the hospital, if the recovered patient is a diabetic and under insulin s/he cannot donate plasma.
Similarly, if the recovered patient’s blood pressure is more than 100-140mm Hg (Systolic) and 60-90mm Hg (diastolic) with or without medicine; if the patient has uncontrolled diabetics or hypertension with change in medication in last 28 days, if the patient is a cancer survivor or if the patient has chronic kidney, heart, lungs or liver diseases, then s/he cannot donate plasma.
Likewise, if the recovered patient is a woman and has ever been pregnant she also cannot be a plasma donor.
The tweet says COVID recovered patients between 18-60 years, above 55 kilograms who were earlier diagnosed with COVID-19 and have tested negative since can donate plasma.
Notably, health screening of COVID-19 recovered patients in Ganjam district started from Thursday and it would go on till August 26. During the screening, the recovered patients have been asked to volunteer for plasma donation.
