Chhatrapur: Beguniapada block and Kodala NAC under Chhatrapur sub-division in Ganjam district have become free from COVID-19.
According to Chhatrapur Sub-Collector office sources, there are eight blocks and nine urban areas under Chhatrapur sub-division. Tests for COVID-19 are underway and a total of 1,97,920 people have been tested so far. Of them, 6,385 people were found infected by the virus.
Among the infected patients, 6,289 patients that is about 98.49 per cent recovered from the disease and the number of active cases till Sunday was 34. As many as 62 patients succumbed to the disease.
Similarly, there were seven active cases each in Chhatrapur sub-division and Hinjili municipality, six each in Ganjam and Khalikote NACs, three each in Kabisuryanagar and Polosora NACs and two active cases in Purushottampur NAC till Sunday, sub-collector’s office sources said. And Beguniapada block and Kodala NAC did not have any active cases.
Chhatrapur Sub-Collector Priya Ranjan Prusty said they are working towards bringing the number to zero in Chhatrapur sub-division. “If the COVID-19 situation in the district is better today, it is only due to the people being aware and alert, the administration pulling all stops and the representatives of panchayati raj trying their level best,” said Prusty.
Notably, Ganjam reported 15 fresh cases of COVID-19 Monday, taking the tally to 21,395. Of them, 21,025 patients have recovered from the disease and 130 patients are undergoing treatment. The killer disease has so far claimed 232 lives while there are eight deaths due to reasons other than COVID-19.
