Thieves steal cash, jewellery from two temples in Odisha’s Bhadrak district

Bhadrak: Thieves stole donation boxes along with jewellery from Radhagobinda temple and Madanmohan temple under Puruna Bazar police limits in Bhadrak district, a source said Monday.

According to the source, the theft took place Sunday night. The miscreants scooped out Lord Madanmohan’s eyes which has caused resentment among devotees.

The thieves decamped the temples with some jewellery along with cash from donation boxes and later dumped the boxes some distance away from the temples, the source said.

Subsequently, Radhagobinda temple committee president Kedarnath Bhattacharya and Madanmohan temple’s Mahant Ashish Dev Goswami lodged an FIR in this regard.

Afterwards, the cops reached the spot and checked the CCTV footage of the theft.

The police said that an inquiry would be conducted with the help of a scientific team and sniffer dogs.

It can be mentioned here that, police Sunday detained two persons for their alleged involvement in the theft of a donation box along with jewellery of the deity from Madanmohan temple inside Sakhigopinath temple compound under Satyabadi block in Odisha’s Puri district.
