Third terminal at BPIA soon

Bhubaneswar: In view of the increase in number of air passengers, the Centre has decided to expand the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here with construction of a third terminal.

Talking to the media here Monday, Civil Aviation joint secretary Usha Padhee said a decision to this effect was taken after a meeting between the state government and the Civil Aviation Ministry.

She said the construction work for the third terminal will commence from July next year at a projected cost of Rs 930 crore.

Talking about the resumption of flight operation from the newly-constructed Veer Surendra Sai Airport at Jharsuguda, Padhee said that the ministry has floated a tender in this regard and the flight services will resume by January 2019.
