According to Twin City Commissionerate Police sources, the looters had targeted an ATM of Indian Bank at Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Road. Police have arrested one and detained four others in this connection.

“The incident took place at around 4am today when the miscreants attempted to loot with iron rods and other incriminating instruments. There was some scuffle between locals and miscreants during which four members of the gang managed to flee from the spot”, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Umashankar Das at a presser here.

Alert locals handed over one person to the police. However, police managed to nab four others later. All five are being interrogated to verify as to whether they are history-sheeters or not.

Further investigation will lead to their identification and criminal link. The accused are probably residents of nearby slums, the police said.
