Three arrested for loot of cash over Rs 3 lakh, jewellery worth lakhs in Jajpur

Jajpur: In a major crackdown Saturday, Jajpur police arrested three looters and seized around 223 gram of gold ornaments, over 1 kilogram of silver ornaments including Rs 3.04 lakh cash from their possession, Jajpur Road SDPO Chinmaya Prasad Nayak informed.

Jajpur police got a tip-off on the whereabouts of some miscreants who were allegedly involved in a robbery incident that had occurred November 19 in the district.

A special police team under the direction of Jajpur SP Charan Singh Meena conducted a raid on Telenga Sahi area at Purbakot village of Kantor panchayat under Korei block in the evening.

The police team led by Nayak nabbed the three looters. Police have also seized a number of ATM cards and incriminating weapons.

The arrested are history-sheeters and further investigation will lead to their criminal link. Jajpur police have launched a probe in this connection which is underway, the SDPO expressed.
