Three dead in two road mishaps

Bhanjanagar: Three persons were killed while four others were critically injured in two separate cases of road accidents Sunday, police said.

In the first case, two persons were killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a car they were travelling in, overturned near Buduli under this police limits in Ganjam district. One of the occupants in the car died on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries en route to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The two injured persons are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. Doctors informed Sunday evening that their condition still remains critical.

On being informed, Bhanjanagar police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation as to how the mishap occurred. The deceased were identified as Jiten Badatya of Khajuripali under Belguntha police limits and M Pradhan of Belguntha. The injured persons were identified as Debashis Bisoi of Bidipur and Shibashis of Belguntha, police said.

The mishap occurred after the driver lost control on wheels and the car overturned due to over-speeding. Police said that the occupants in the car were returning to Bidipur from Phulbani after attending a religious programme.

In the second mishap, one person died on the spot and two others were injured when two motorcycles were involved in a crash at a place under Bhograi block in Balasore district. The accident occurred on National Highway-57, police said.  The conditions of the two injured are critical, officials said.
