Malkangiri: In a significant development, three Naxalites, including two women surrendered before the Sukma police in Chhattisgarh bordering Malkangiri district, police said Sunday. The three who have surrendered are Dudhi Sukdi, Dudhi Deve, and Madvi Hadma. They were active in Chintagufa area of Chhattisgarh.
Among the three, Deve was carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head, the officials said. As per information provided by the police, the Naxalites surrendered before police and officials of CRPF’s 50th battalion here Saturday evening. They said that they were disappointed with the ‘inhuman and hollow’ Naxal ideology, and the way the camps were being run and that they did not see any development work being carried out. They also said that they did not like how the poor tribals were tortured and the way innocents were being killed.
A senior police official said that the three will be provided facilities as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the Chhattisgarh government. The three cadres told police that they were impressed by Chhattisgarh government’s rehabilitation schemes for Naxalites.
