Three held for stabbing youth in City

Bhubaneswar:  Three persons held on charges of attacking a person of their village with sharp weapons Saturday night near the village school at Bankuala on the outskirts of the city here. Earlier, the victim identified as Subrat Dash, 26, was brutally attacked by the accused persons at Bankuala under Sahid Nagar Police station limits here. The accused persons left him bleeding at the spot after the incident.  The passersby rushed Dash to Capital Hospital after seeing him lying unconscious at the spot.

The accused were identified as Harish Sahani alias Bunty, 19, his brother Priyashis alias Vicky and their uncle, Bipanna Sahani of Bankuala village.

According to sources, Dash who was on his way to his residence at around 7 pm stopped at the school playing ground where his friends along with Harish were also present. The friends later engaged in friendly banter.  However, the banter did not go down well with Dash and he slapped Harish in a fit of rage.

Meanwhile, the friends failed to amicably solve the matter among themselves and Harsih called his brother and uncle to the place.  The duo reached there on a motorcycle and later they engaged in an altercation with Dash.  The heated argument later turned violent as they started exchanging blows. Suddenly, amidst the commotion, an infuriated Harish took a knife held by his brother Priyashis and stabbed Dash multiple times. He sustained severe injuries in his back, chest, hands and belly. He was rushed to the Capital Hospital from where he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated further.

Sahid Nagar Police arrested the accused persons after registering a case (143/19) based on the complaint by the relatives of the victim. The accused persons were sent to judicial custody after being produced before the court Sunday.
