Three railway stations in Rayagada to have FOBs

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide better facilities and convenience to the rail passengers, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has planned to dedicate three foot over-bridges (FOBs) – at Rayagada, Ladda and Jimidipeta railway stations in Rayagada district under Waltair Railway Division February 19.

FOB is a crucial passenger amenity to facilitate passenger movement from one platform to another avoiding crossing of tracks which is highly risky.

Both Jimidipeta and Ladda stations are having two platforms each separated by four lines. The work for construction of FOB at Jimidipeta and Ladda have been sanctioned with an expenditure of Rs 2.24 crore (Rs 1.12 crore each) with a length of 36.2 metres and width of 3 metres each.

The Rayagada railway station is classified under ‘A’ category and is the headquarters of Rayagada district. It has already been developed as a modern and model station which is serving as a junction station for passenger traffic on Raipur-Vizianagaram line and Koraput-Rayagada line. This station has three platforms including
one island platform connected with 1.8 metre-wide FOB with staircases.

An additional FOB with ramp facility connecting all the platforms has been sanctioned in 2017-18 financial year at a cost of Rs 2.44 crore and the work has been completed in February 2019, said the release.
