Three-tier security for Assembly during Budget session

Bhubaneswar: The state legislative Assembly will be under a three-tier security blanket during the Budget session starting Tuesday.

The Director General of Police RP Sharma, Monday, took stock of the security arrangements at the Assembly. Sharma told the media that around 28 platoons of armed police force including 90 officers from various ranks will be deployed under the 3-tier security arrangement. Deputy Commissioner of police Anup Sahu will be in charge of the security arrangements at the spot.

While speaking to the media after reviewing the security arrangements, Sharma said that the security personnel will be guarding the outer and inner periphery of the state Assembly. He also informed that adequate manpower, including senior officers, will be involved in the security arrangements of the Assembly during the session.

Similarly, special security arrangements have been made at the lower PMG area earmarked for protest spot in order to maintain law and order. Three control rooms have been created at the North gate of the Assembly, one at the protest spot while the another at the unified control room from where close watch will be kept on all activities around the Assembly.

Adequate number of CCTVs has been installed at different places inside and outside the Assembly including the demonstration spot.

Two special tactical units will always stand ready near the Assembly to face any eventualities. The Strike Force and Quick Action team of Odisha police will be deployed at the spot to prevent any eventualities including forceful intrusion of demonstrators. Different teams of QAT will be deployed at seven important places around the Assembly.
