Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Tuesday sounded thunderstorm and lightning alert for eight districts till 1.30 pm.
The districts are Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh.
“Latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imageries indicate that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and moderate rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm”, the MeT office said.
The weatherman also advised people in these districts to stay indoors and take shelter in buildings and other safe locations as a precautionary measure.
