Tiger Roshan dies at Nandankanan

Barang: Tiger Roshan, which was ailing for the last few days, died at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) Thursday at the age of 17.

According to NZP sources, the tiger had lost its eyesight when it was 18-month old. The male tiger was suffering from old age ailments and was paralysed from legs.

Nandankanan authorities had admitted the tiger to the veterinary unit at the zoo where it was being treated under the guidance of a health committee and OUAT specialists. However, no improvement was observed in his health condition.

Roshan had left food for three days for its deteriorating health condition.

NZP deputy director Jayanta Kumar Das said, “Roshan was suffering from Trypanosomiasis and old age related ailments. The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report comes.” With Roshan’s death tiger count at the zoo has decreased to 27.
